Hey, I'm MiKayla.

Hey, I'm MiKayla, and I went on a trip to Paris. But not just any trip. This was my trip. Well, and nine other students' trips. And ...

Hey, I ate some ice cream.

The Metro. The Arc de Triomphe. The Louvre (the outside anyway). Classical music. More food. That can pretty much sum up our second day in Paris.

We started off with the Metro. The underground of Paris (part of the underground anyway). I'm not going to lie. It's rather confusing. But with just one day's worth of work and a little practice, we got the hang of it. And we didn't lose anyone. Which was a plus.

Next the Arc de Triomphe. I wouldn't say it's big as in skyscraper big, but for just an arc it's pretty huge. Commissioned by Napoleon and finished in the 1830's, I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the sculptors made it that beautiful. And the view from the top was pretty awesome too.

After visiting the Arc de Triomphe, we grabbed sandwiches, stopped for some journal-ling in the park, and then we were released out into the city on our own. With this new-found power of roaming a city that was nothing more than a maze of identical buildings, we soaked up our extra time by going by the Louvre to take super touristy pictures and grab ice cream. We once again did not get lost.

In the evening, as a class, we attended a concert by the Paris National Children's Choir at Saint Chapelle. I can say with all honesty that I will never be able to sing halfway as well as any one of those little boys or girls. They were amazing.

So that's my second day in Paris in a nutshell. While journal-ling at the park, we were asked to write about what had made us most uncomfortable thus far while in Paris. I know this was a question concerning cultural differences, but I wrote the first thing that came to mind. So I wrote that I found it offsetting that I didn't feel that uncomfortable in the city. I felt pretty comfortable actually. Paris is about a bajillion times bigger than my home town and the people speak a different language but I haven't been too scared, not too uncomfortable. Which I found just kinda odd.

Until next time and au revoir. M
